In the Shadow Garden June 2021
This series of paintings are based on mass produced patterns from fabrics and textiles. Because of the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, the source material was whatever I had on hand, such as a research folder of chintz photos and Ikea patterns.
The floral and fauna found in these patterns are artificial, an ersatz environment. These paintings are landscapes of an in between space, at once identifiable and yet an abstraction, a shadow garden.
