In Bloom
In Bloom
Carnegie Gallery, Dundas ON
June 1-24, 2018

This series of paintings are based on the Royal Botanical Gardens, with gardens in both Hamilton and Burlington. Gardens are inherently an artificial creation, manipulated by human hands.  I find myself returning time and again to the RBG’s Rock Gardens.  I’m fascinated by the use of pattern and colour to create a sense of order within a natural landscape.  It’s an ordered and structured landscape, designed to provide peace and solitude, a refuge from urban life. This new body of work is a response to this ordered landscape.
